Lego Fortnite’s new ‘social roleplay experience’ looks like a cute GTA Online

AdminAdmin—December 11, 20240

One of the biggest collaborations in gaming gets even bigger on Dec. 12 with the launch of Lego Fortnite Brick Life, which looks a lot like Grand Theft Auto Online if its target demographic was 6-year-olds.

A short video released alongside Monday’s announcement depicts popular Fortnite characters like Banana Guy, Fish Man, and Pink Bear Lady (these may not be their actual names) hanging out in a fully Lego world. They speed down crowded city streets on souped-up, neon motorcycles, they pull off elaborate treasure heists, and they customize dream homes and apartments with racks of Lego guitars. Banana Guy even trips… on a banana. Wild.

In its announcement post, Fortnite developer Epic Games described Lego Fortnite Brick Life as “a brand new social roleplay game where up to 32 players can live it up in the heart of a bustling city.”

“Players can explore vibrant areas throughout the city, customize their dream home, take on jobs and interact with friends and other players through text chat,” said Epic. “Lego Fortnite Brick Life is an ever-evolving experience and will receive new content updates over time including new jobs, resources and events.”

But it’s not all fun in the sun. Lego Fortnite Brick Life players will also be able to take on a variety of jobs to fund their lavish lifestyles, from the mundane-sounding courier and security guard to more charming careers like “milk tea bobarista” and fortune teller.

When Lego Fortnite Brick Life launches later this week, it will be included in a new all-Lego section of Fortnite’s “Discover” menu alongside the previously released crossover, a survival mode now dubbed Lego Fortnite Odyssey. Most items will apparently be cross-compatible between the two experiences, with support rolling out for “especially large builds” in the near future.
