Penacony is the third area youâll visit in Honkai: Star Rail, and with it comes new treasure and puzzles to complete on the planet. With over 100 new things to find, it can be a lot to scour out all at once.
A lot of the places in Penacony will only unlock once youâve completed a certain part of the main Trailblaze Missions or have completed certain puzzles. Because of that, we recommend hunting all the treasure once you finish the story.
Most maps have loot hidden around and this loot expands beyond just treasure chests. When you open the map, youâll notice a chest icon in the top left corner with numbers next to it. This indicates how many of the different types of loot youâve found. However, this counter only lists treasure that isnât locked behind puzzles or formidable foes (the powerful monsters that guard chests) and Warp Trotters.
How Penacony treasure chests work
Opening chests and solving puzzles around Penacony will reward you with Clock Credits, which you can turn in to level up the Clockie statue in the center of Golden Hour. Leveling up the statue nets you rewards like Stellar Jade and other goodies.
There are lots of new puzzle types to Penacony, including block-sliding mirror puzzles and literal puzzles (with pieces you have to fit in to make an image). Most notably, thereâs a new type of collectable found under the treasure chest drop down when you look at maps: âLordly Trashcans.â These garbage pails will ask you a question, and if you answer correctly, theyâll give you a reward. If you answer wrong, theyâll engage you in battle â and youâll still get the same reward after, so donât worry about answering wrong.
Penacony also has quite a few maps where youâll be walking on walls; the map there is 3D. While itâs obviously tough for us to convey information on where to find each chest, Warp Trotter, or Lordly Trashcan in these spaces, we did our best to show where the chests are located using circles to indicate which platform the object is on.

You need to use the Hanu television on the second floor of Golden Hour to access the small room in the southwest.

To get to the south most part of this level and into the 3D room, you need to enter the Arcane Artwork on the east side of F3, indicated by the icon of a painting with a slash through it.

Dewlight Pavilion (F2)
To access the 3D room in the northeast, youâll need to talk to Burton, an NPC right outside the door. After running through the 3D room several times and finding chests (which donât contribute towards the chest counter in the corner of the map), youâll eventually get to a Hanu puzzle. The two chests that do contribute towards the counter are part of the Hanu puzzle.

Clock Studios Theme Park (F1)
To reach that northern area, youâll need to enter a Hanu door, accessed from the northern area of the second floor.
Clock Studios Theme Park (F2)
One of the treasure chests in the southern Hanu puzzle area can be tricky. The hidden chest is behind the sign next to the Hanu TV set, and youâll have to use Hanuâs small stature to get behind it.
Another hidden chest is beyond the Bubble Pinball Machine in the south. Set it up like this to shoot off to a hidden platform:
Dreamflux Reef treasure chest locations
Dreamflux Reef (F1)
Interact with the purple bubbles in the south to get the first Lord Trashcan in the area.
Dreamflux Reef (F2)
To get to the eastern rooftop area, insert an Aideen token into the lampost in the connecting plaza area.
SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue treasure chest locations
Whichever paths you didnât take during the main scenario portion of this area will become available once you do the adventure mission âScorchsand Vacation.â
Note that each of these areas have secret paths to unlock further things in each zone. To unlock these paths, youâll need to talk to the soda-headed NPCs in each zone, and then enter the Audition Shuttle. When you select a path to take, the bottom right corner will tell you what you need to do in order to create the secret path. If youâre struggling, just keep hitting the buttons that the hint labels with a question mark until all three checkmarks appear in the corner.
We honestly recommend running through this area for the story, then do the aforementioned side quest, while stopping to talk to every Mr. Soda NPC you see. Talk to all six in each zone, then activate the secrets at the Audition Shuttles. Then finally you can fully explore each zone to the fullest.
Given how complex this map is, weâve broken up each area by what number theyâre ordered by in-game.
SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue area 1
The Lordly Trashcans and Warp Trotter will only appear if youâve taken the aforementioned hidden route to these areas.
SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue area 2
The bottommost floor of the Gunfire Trial and the smaller, puzzle-filled isles on the east side of the Time Trial are locked behind the hidden routes to these areas.
SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue area 3
The chests on these maps will appear no matter what path you take here, but there will be a little surprise for you in the center areas of both of the arenas if you take the hidden routes.
Penacony Grand Theater treasure chest locations
The 3D Dreamscape rooms in this area are huge, but luckily, you should be able to run into all the chests quite quickly if you just follow the path forward in each area. Thereâs path in each 3D room is pretty linear, so there isnât too many places to get lost in, luckily.
The southeastern 3D room has a side quest involved with it. Talk to the NPC right outside of the portal to start the quest âLoothunt in Mazeville.â All the chests inside only correlate to the quest â there are no chests that count toward the treasure counter that show up on the map, which is why itâs left off of our map.
The bunches of chests on the eastern side by the bar are also tied to the nearby Hanu puzzle. Completing the challenge will make three chests appear.
If youâre looking for more chests and loot in Honkai: Star Rail, you can check out our complete maps of the Herta Space Station, the Xianzhou Luofu, and Jarilo-VI, too.
