The best XM4 loadout is likely to be the first gun you’ll kit out in the Black Ops 6 beta, because as with the case with almost every Call of Duty game, the jack-of-all-trades assault rifle is one of the first — and best — you unlock.
Despite only a faction of what’s in the full game being available, there are plenty of attachments to choose from when you level up the XM4. You want to play to the XM4’s strengths — capable of decimating at range while also holding its own up close — so the attachments and class we’ve picked will cater to that.
Here’s the best XM4 loadout in the Black Ops 6 beta, along with the best class to use alongside it.
Best XM4 loadout in Black Ops 6
Before we begin, as the beta is only available for a limited time, we haven’t picked attachments that require leveling the gun all the way to max (which, for the XM4, is level 46) as that isn’t quite feasible in the beta and we want to ensure the build is accessible to everyone.
Here is the best XM4 loadout in the Black Ops 6 beta:
- Optic: PrismaTech Reflex
- Barrel: Long Barrel
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
- Rear Grip: Quickdraw Grip
- Stock: Light Stock
To kick things off, the XM4 has quite a restrictive iron sight, so using an optical attachment is a must. The very first one you unlock, the PrismaTech Reflex, is more than suitable at fixing that problem. Alternatively, if you’re using some of the other weapons available in the beta, the Volzhskiy Reflex is a solid choice but requires leveling up the AK-74 to five first.
At the start, the Gain-Twist Barrel attachment will do the job, but as soon as you unlock the Long Barrel at level 21 you’ll want to get it equipped. This helps out enormously in long-range gunfights as the damage range is significantly buffed. Along similar lines, the Vertical Foregrip will help keep you on target, though you may want to opt for the Precision Foregrip at level 20.
All the attachments so far have been geared towards long-range engagements so to ensure you can also compete up close, go for the Quickdraw Grip which buffs your ADS (aim down sight) speed. The Ergonomic Grip is arguably better, but at level 39, there’s a strong chance you won’t unlock it during the beta window.
Finally, we have the Light Stock. This is the one attachment you may opt for something else on – likely the Heavy Stock – depending on if you want more help up close or at range. The Light Stock means your hipfire and strafing movement speeds are improved, which can be massive when you get surprised up close, but if you find yourself struggling to land shots at range due to flinching, opt for the Heavy Stock instead.
Best XM4 class in Black Ops 6
Here is the best XM4 class to use in the Black Ops 6 beta:
- Secondary: GS45
- Melee: Knife
- Tactical: Concussion
- Lethal: Frag
- Field Upgrade: Trophy System
- Perk 1: Ghost
- Perk 2: Tracker
- Perk 3: Vigilance
- Specialty: Perk Greed
- Perk Greed: Flak Jacket
Options are limited in the beta, so this is a fairly bog standard class with a pistol, stun, and frag grenade as your other lethal options. The Trophy System is the best pick for your field upgrade, because it thwarts all incoming throwables and when you’re posted up at range, they’re one of the main ways you can be taken out.
The perks are the most interesting part of this class because we’re taking advantage of the speciality system. If you equip three perks of the same color, you get a bonus perk. In this case, Ghost, Engineer, and Vigilance are all blue perks, so we receive the Recon specialty, which grants x-ray vision for a few moments after you respawn so you can see enemies outlined, you receive a HUD (heads-up display) flash when an enemy is just outside of your view, and you don’t leave death skulls when you kill enemies.
Ghost means you’re invisible to enemy radar pings and UAVs while moving or interacting, Engineer allows you to see enemy equipment and scorestreaks through walls, and Vigilance shows a HUD icon whenever you appear on an enemy minimap, and it makes you immune to Counter UAVs, Scrambler, and Sleeper Agent (though the latter two don’t appear to be in the beta).
Finally, we have the Wildcard. Your two options in the beta are either Overkill, which allows you to carry a second primary weapon, or Perk Greed, which grants an extra perk choice. We’ve opted for the latter because the XM4 is so well suited to all types of engagement, and the perk we’ve chosen is Flak Jacket, to help protect you from explosive damage when you don’t have a Trophy System down.
If you prefer an SMG, our C9 loadout — which is unlocked at the same time as the XM4 — can help you get the most out of it.
